Hoth: Blood and Ice

Sylvain nodded his head slightly in appreciation.

“I understand… but the fewer people that know, the safer she is… It’s not all heroes here on this rock.”

He leaned his head back against the cave wall, “Thank you Layne…”

[Layne Hoshin]

"...so," she began after a long period of silence after that exchange.

"... since it looks... like the old man's... still out... and, there's only so much whining about stuff i can do before before it gets to be pathetic... what've you been up to?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

“You know… plotting the destruction of the Republic. Making sure the army isn’t wasted by Sith stupidity… Raising twins… The things a single father and Minister of War does.” He replied as his voice started to regain some strength.

“You?”

[Layne Hoshin]

"Fighting slavers. Fighting mandalorians. Fighting Sith. Fighting and plotting against the Emperor. Not having people heed my warnings about people plotting the destruction of the republic. Fighting Alderaanians. Fighting the Star Cabal. Fighting Sith again. Fighting Sith-but-not-Sith. Considering fighting legal battles against some people for using my likeness in unauthorized works of fiction."

She sighed. "Mostly a lot of fighting."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“Sounds exhausting…” He replied.

“Can’t say I am very different though… Keeping busy fighting chases this or that thing keeps the mind occupied at least. Helps keep me from looking back too much.”

[Layne Hoshin]

"It *is* exhausting," she said, "It just never ends. But like you said, sitting still is worse. At least when I'm fighting, I'm *doing* something. Or just staying relevant, I guess."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“Is that a thing people do in the Republic? Stay relevant?” He asked.

[Layne Hoshin]

"I just meant... you know, like I talked about... before..."

She shrugged and sighed. "But I guess... yeah, a lot of them do. It isn't as bad as the Empire where you're either somebody or you're nobody... but that doesn't mean it's an egalitarian paradise either. I mean... like, half the people on this mission... are Alderaanian nobles or whatever. Other half, Jedi of course. I probably know about ninety percent of them personally."

"I mean... not counting all the technicians and pilots and what not in the background, I guess."

"Anyway... I'm rambling again."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“I don’t mind… It’s not like I have anywhere else to be right now.” He replied as he closed his eyes.

“Tell me about Master Thy… I saw her back at that meeting. Seemed to have grown up a bit since I last saw her…”

[Layne Hoshin]

"Hmm..." She considered the question, "...she's on the council now. Everyone likes her. Not afraid to break the mold... actually she kind of insists on it... but... I guess she's lost that same thing I have. She used to be quicker to action. But she always had a patience I never had, so it's maybe not exactly the same thing."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“She cut Kris’ leg off back on Nar Shaddaa, even when I tried to find a peaceful solution. Not my favorite Jedi since then…” He said simply.

“And what about all this erotic novel nonsense…?”

[Layne Hoshin]

"Yeah well," she said, "Much as I respected Krystal, sometimes you just got to do what you got to do, I can't exactly blame her after saying all the things I've said on that."

She coughed at the mention of the novel.

"...uuugh... I never should've..." she shook her head "...Let's just say I was on a lot of drugs, not thinking clearly, and some Organa's are insane and don't understand the concept of a one time thing."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“Can’t blame him too much… I’m sure he was just overcome by your irresistible charm and warmth.” He replied with a friendly smirk.

[Layne Hoshin]

"...Riiight... I'm thinking it's more to do with the fact he just has an uncontrolleable Jedi fetish that I accidentally fueled."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“Accidental? ‘Oops Mr. Organa, my top seems to have fallen off.’” He said with a chuckle and a pair of painful coughs.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Shut up, I told you there was lots of drugs involved. The pain-killing kind."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He quietly just smirked, “I’m glad you’re human at least… Everyone should experience passion like that once.”

[Layne Hoshin]

She would've face-palmed if the physical strain didn't seem like it might kill her.

"...Thy was right," she said with a mild sigh, "You *are* a jerk."

A brief pause followed.

"...besides, I'm only like 99.9% human or whatever, remember? ... I don't know how genetics work. Anyway, shut up."

[Sylvain Torsin]

“That charm again… I better watch out so I don’t get hooked in to your licentiousness.” He turned his head towards the snoring Snow Man’s ‘room’.

“Wonder when he’s getting up…”

[Layne Hoshin]

"...you ever meet him before?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

“Yes… Back on Korriban. Was less than an enjoyable experience… Gave us your ancestor though..” He replied.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Two of them, I guess."

Odd coincidence, really.

"Don't quite remember if you ever told me how it happened. With me though, well, he showed me how to listen and then Lord Oshin appeared. Also helped me find an artifact, I guess. Never did get what he asked for in return."

Unless that was what this was all about, and the old man had been *that* far ahead of the curve with his knowledge of the future. But no... that was crazy, right?
