It might be possible without it, but you’re probably looking at years of R&D, work shopping prototyping and hoping you get it right. Optimistic under good conditions, five to seven years? Fast track it maybe cut it down to three years,” she said.

“Or, well, you are the minister of War right? I’d want sole ownership of the technology which I could lease to the Empire… I'd work closely with the military-tech complex, I get my cut, a quasi gov't position and all the wealth I’d need. You get first crack at my technology and my genius.”

"As nice as a woman as you or anyone would be... That is simply not a risk that can be taken for someone who we met this morning." He continued.

"However... if you would work in conjunction with our tech personnel and we engage in a... trial run with you here on Hoth in the next few days... Then perhaps we can work with a situation where you could have more permanent employment within my offices. But private control... The Empire cannot afford that risk at this juncture."

He paused, "This could be the start of something very good for you... If you are willing to give some to get some."

"That's a lot of fancy words, what exactly are you offering. I am not handing over my golden nerf for kriffing poodoo. I expect you'd want some safe guards but break it down for me," she said.

There was something that swelled up in Sylvain… Anger at the lack of urgency in the woman’s actions.

There were times people had to be forced to do the right thing and he could feel the swelling of power into his fingers… But Sylvain’s visions came back to him…

It seemed he’d need to test his dedication to trusting others…

Once again he failed at an important moment in something he was supposed to be good at… but the failures of the past and his visions hadn’t stopped him before. And he wouldn’t stop until there wasn’t life left in him anymore.

“I guess we leave her to it then…” He motioned for the exit to the other members of his party.
