[Day 5 - EA] Into the Pit – Amateur Hour

by Riyani Viro
Riyani Viro is bored and wants to see some real blood sport, which means it’s amateur hour time. Sure it’s fun to see slaves and captives get torn apart by beasts or other pirates but what is even more fun is watching unsuspecting visitors think they have what it takes to fight in the pits.

Plus she can get rid of a troublesome slave if things poorly, a win-win. She stood and said, “Let there be blood.”

“The rules are simple, no armor and no weapons but what you find in the pit, if you decide to break the rules then the pirates are well within their rights to shoot at you like tu’kata in a barrel. And if you survive that, we just keep shooting. But if you live, you can earn the Pirate Queen’s favor! She can be very magnanimous to those who impress her!” the pirate spokeswoman said through a loud speaker system to the gathered throngs.

OOC: No armor and no weapons but what you find in the pit. This will be filled once four people enter the pit versus whatever the Queen deems to be a threat. They must survive at least six rounds before the Queen will be satisfied, or defeat the challenge. Open to four players.

Players will have a constant setback die due to the cold in the pit.

Weapons found can be Improvised Weapons of Small (Damage +0, Crit 5, Engaged) or Medium size (Damage +1, Crit 5, Engaged, Cumbersome 2).

OOC: Players will start at Medium from [redacted], when joining the thread make a Resilience or Coordination check at Average or suffer 6 strain, soakable. Threat increases strain taken and advantage can reduce it or boost an ally.

Then make a Cool check for Initiative in your post.

Well, this counted as a distraction right? Breela had asked for one and there was a pirate queen in attendance. It wasn't the best idea for a distraction, at least in Soren's thinking. Hopefully it would work out though.

Riyani gestured to her First Mate and said, “Now what was this creature’s name? Who cares, you were caught snooping little slave and I can’t have slaves thinking they are people. Number one, show them my mercy.”

In Huttese the rodian said, “Look kid, I like you, you’re smart, but you pissed off the wrong lady. Well you won’t have long to think about that mistake. Try to at least make your death entertaining, okay?”

He then kicked the young cat-like humanoid into the pit.

“Shame, oh well, so whose taking bets?” he said turning to the crowd.

She hadn't come to this place to fight; she's come here to help another. Maybe do some good. Earn back some trust. But, *something* had told her to come here, to this pit instead. It might be foolish, and precisely the sort of thing that Thy and the others would get angry at her for. She was going to be fighting again, after all.

But something told her she had to.

Wounds: 0/19
Strain: 4/17
Soak: 6
Sense: Twice per round, the difficulty to attack Layne is increased twice
Fearsome: When an enemy becomes Engaged with Layne, they must make a Hard Fear check

[4 strain to commit two force dice to Sense, and Enhance, 500 credits spent on entering junktown]

Resilience (Enhanced Brawn): 1eP+5eA+2eD 0 successes, 4 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Forgotten Setback: 1eS 0 successes, 1 threat
Image

(6 strain damage taken, but soaked? However, this is technically the first skill roll she made since using the free triumph from the zhorrid ritual, so two despairs are automatically added to this roll... to be used however the GM sees fit? 3 Advantage to maybe not be *totally* screwed because of it, or otherwise heal strain from committing force powers, again, up to GM what works?)

Cool Initiative: 1eP+1eA 2 successes, 1 advantage

Zom knew one thing, well two things, how to get a shine job on the eyes and that family is everything. He dropped down and said to those in the Pit, “Don’t forget, the most important thing in life is family.”

He landed and went to check on the young feline alien and said, “In this Pit, we are family now.”

Seeing his good friend Zom, Bartold Barzenegger dropped down as well and said, "Zom you son of nerf!"

The two shared an epic hand clasp.

Why was she even here? Today had been difficult enough as it was. Other people were likely facing worse threats she *could* be helping with if it wasn't for other people making choices for her again. Here she was, coming back to that whole train of thought... though it wasn't as if she'd liked her own choices any better.

Whatever. Deal with that later, she supposed. Right now she had to just focus on the fight. And ignore the wannabe action-stars over there having a male bonding experience.

Instead, she decided to look around to see if there were any weapons around for her to use or any special features of the pit she might be able to make use of or watch out for. The kinds of people who enjoying running these bloodsports liked their surprise-features, sometimes, after all.

She did notice the feline alien as well. And wondered if perhaps...

((Any weapons around, or will those only be thrown in and pick-upable once combat starts? Also, did that 3 advantage yield anything or should I just heal strain with it?))

"Don't worry little girl, Zom and I got this," the man said confidently.

OOC: You can find a weapon to start with.

"Right," she said, as she picked up one of the weapons she spotted. It had been a *long* time since she'd had to fight without a lightsaber. The heft of it and the balance weren't like she was used to. This was going to be a bit of a problem.

She gave the man who wasn't involved in the action-star bonding session a look, then looked toward the feline alien.

"What's your name?"

Soren for the most part watched the exchange with an amused expression. This was going to be interesting to say the least

“It’s…”

There is no time for him to finish as purple lighting rips through the area frying the poor man into ashes… Zom turned and was about to answer but he too was ashes.

A woman dropped down and said, “This is my pit.”

OOC: Resilience or Coordination check at Hard to avoid harm or suffer 8 wounds pierce 4. Initiative.

What the... she was *not* expecting to have to deal with something like *that*.

And...there was something familiar to this woman. Could it be...

Resilience: 1eP+5eA+3eD+1eS 2 successes, 1 advantage

[Initiative same as before: 2 successes, 1 advantage]

Wounds: 0/19
Strain: 3/17 (used the earlier advantage for weapon, the one now to heal strain)
Soak: 6
Sense: Twice per round, the difficulty to attack Layne is increased twice
Fearsome: When an enemy becomes Engaged with Layne, they must make a Hard Fear check

Well that was a surprise and one that managed to catch Soren flat footed. Still perhaps he could make something out of it as he stumbled to the side with the blow.

coordination for into the Pit! Hard Difficulty, Boost from stalker, setback from the chill.. round 2: 5eA+1eB+3eD+1eS 2 failures, 6 advantage

8 wounds suffered

Advantage to manage to pick up a weapon before the round starts? Plus something else maybe?

Init above.

It *was* her. What a mess. And it was all Layne's fault, as usual again. She would try and fix this, but she didn't think she could get there without knocking some sense into the woman.

"Keep the kid alive," she yelled to the stranger who was in there on her side, before sprinting toward Skivulker.

"And you... snap out of it!"

She struck out at her pilot with the blade, hopefully hitting the woman well enough to make an impact but not so well as to create a fatal injury. It would have to be a start, in any case. Focus on keeping the kid alive first, then on fixing her mistake. Have the woman focus on Layne instead of these others.

(1 maneuver to close to short, 2 strain for 2nd maneuver, used to close to engaged. Action to attack)

Melee (Destiny), adversary 3, setback from cold: 2eP+4eA+2eC+1eD+1eS 4 successes, 2 threat, 1 Triumph
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Critical Injury: 1d100 26 (Discouraging Wound: Flip one light side Destiny Point to a dark side Destiny Point (reverse if NPC))

[11 damage? (brawn 6 +1 from medium weapon + 4 successes)]
Triumph used to inflict critical, 2 threat for GM use?

Skivulker has to make a hard fear check.

Wounds: 0/19
Strain: 5/17 (used the earlier advantage for weapon, the one now to heal strain)
Soak: 6
Sense: Twice per round, the difficulty to attack Layne is increased twice
Fearsome: When an enemy becomes Engaged with Layne, they must make a Hard Fear check

Skivulker blinked and said, “Master Layne you…”

Then she nearly got her face smashed off, but thankfully she parried with the weapon and moved the worst of it away from her but still it would hurt.

“You kriffin’ nerf herder!” she said retaliating with her weapon! The weapon crackled as she flipped and rolled through the air. She screed loudly as she came at the Jedi with her weapon like a demon possessed. “Attacking a Republic soldier! This is treason!!!” she shouted.

OOC: Parry for 3 strain to reduce Damage by 5 to 6, and soaks 4 so 2 wounds taken plus a critical injury. She hits Layne for 9 strain damage.

Skivulker Fear: 5eA+3eD 3 successes, 2 threat
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Skivulker Melee vs. Layne + Aim: 2eP+2eA+2eC+1eB 2 successes

With only one enemy currently present and the kid for at least the moment looking ok, Soren wasn't quite sure what he could do other move to attack himself.

His attack didn't manage to connect though.

Maneuver: move to short
Two strain: move to engaged

Action:attack

The pit. Attacking Ski Vulcan lady. Destiny to upgrade my roll, setback offset for the round by advantages. Adversary 3: 3eP+2eC+1eD 2 failures, 2 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

1 advantage to boost next allied character.
1 advantage to recover a strain.

"Please," she said, doubting the pleading look in her eyes would help in the chaotic moment of battle itself, but hoping it would reach the woman somehow anyway. Maybe not now, but after this was over.

Rather than move out of the way or parry it, she simply took the blow that her former pilot inflicted on her.

"Please let me make something right."

Then she followed up by striking back again, but this time focusing her attack on the weapon that Skivulker was wielding.

Melee (Destiny), adversary 3, setback from cold, Boost from Soren, Boost from Aim: 2eP+4eA+2eB+2eC+1eD+1eS 3 successes, 4 advantage, 1 Triumph
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

[Maneuver to Aim, Action to Attack.]

10 damage inflicted, but Triumph used to maybe short out the weapon she's using and rendering it ineffective if I can? Which per book rules means she doesn't take damage in exchange.

1 advantage to boost Soren, 3 advantage to heal strain.

6 of the strain damage Layne took soaked (unless soak doesn't apply) 3 taken, 3 healed, back down to 5.

Wounds: 0/19
Strain: 5/17
Soak: 6
Sense: Twice per round, the difficulty to attack Layne is increased twice
Fearsome: When an enemy becomes Engaged with Layne, they must make a Hard Fear check

“Hey, the Queen gave me that!” she said with annoyance. “This is not how you treat your crew, Master Layne! You are being quite the scruffy looking nerf-herding.”

The staff was now inert and she raised a hand and said, “Fine you want to be poodoo head, then taste my unlimited power!”

OOC: Flipping Destiny to suffer 5 strain and use the Dark Side, 2 to activate, 1 to increase targets to two and two to increase intensity. Both Soren and Layne take 11 wounds.

Skivulker unlimited power vs. Layne: 1eP+4eA+2eC+4eF 4 successes, 1 threat, 5 Dark Side
