D8 Organization

So, we have 5 threads to potentially deal with:
  • Destruction of the Ortolan Plant Attack - LM
  • Attack on Tower - LM
  • [Redacted] - MA
  • Friendly Chat with Baras and Friends - MA
  • Confrontation at Junk City - MA
I'll be having a Friendly Chat with Baras about the aerodynamics of durasteel slugs in sub-zero conditions. I think Tethys and Syl were planning to come for that.

Ideally, I would like to bring Layne, since she has a stake in this, and one other person. I know Moyr and Pipka have offered. However, I also get it if people have others of these they want to do. However, I think a thread to sort out who's doing what will be really helpful.

  • Destruction of the Ortolan Plant Attack - LM (4 people)
  • Attack on Tower - LM (3 people)
  • [Redacted] - MA (Mandatory if not in another event)
  • Friendly Chat with Baras and Friends - MA (4 people)
  • Confrontation at Junk City - MA (4 people)
To help with this, I have added numbers.

If it's Luth, Syl, Tethys, and Layne for the Baras thing, that's 4, no? Or is it Luth + 4?

Good luck fighting without weapons Thy will not give them to you to go do violence.

If there are events people feel tied to then please say! I'm happy to direct Aphr whereever is lacking people. She isn't a great fighty person but she can fight and she can do non-fighty stuff quite well

Yeah, weapons would be the trick in that regard for that particular event.

I think it's Luth+3 for a total of 4, so it might be a moot point anyway.

I have a lightsaber with cooties.

Layne most definitely wouldn’t want cooties though.

Just so there is no ambiguity on the Baras thing, this is pre-meditated murder/assassination and it will be obvious as such from the get go.

Just to be clear.

I am not warning people away I just want everyone on the same page when it goes down.

Guess I should help out on the Junktown one and I guess either Ortolan or Tower atk is fine.

That does complicate it a bit for me. Tethys would absolutely want to confront Baras about his misdeeds in a decisive fashion and would certainly not be surprised if that led to violence. But jumping him from a dark corner is... not really her? :?

I've mentioned before that I don't mind not doing this.

Is there some wiggle room on how we as players would approach it?

I don’t know if any of us are really just in the ‘murder Baras to murder’ camp.

I think it's great idea, I was just going off discord chat of sniper shots if that is not your approach that's fine.

If you want to try diplomacy first I am down with that too.

I don't think so. It's fine.

You let me know the approach, and I will pencil it for MA when things are their craziest.

I just want people to know exactly what they are getting into when morality is a real thing.

It’d probably help if Baras provided some sort of obstacle. Being his normal recalcitrant self…

Yeah, even if Thy gave Layne her weapons; I don't think Layne would want to murder him. She'd want to defeat him, then show mercy in the end; as a way of overcoming her past and moving forward. Which is why I'd have hoped that Thy would give her her weapons; especially with Tethys there to help ensure Layne doesn't flip over into pure evil murder again.

But if it's assassination from the get go...

Yeah. the initial plan was more... Luth doesn't function well inside medium range. It's good that we're talking about it now to clear up this sort of thing. I'm not married to the idea, and if it needs to be reworked or dropped, or just comes down to her going it alone, that's fine.

If a quick attack is the preferred approach, I-the-player can bow out in favor of one of the other volunteers! I know there were several. So if this is one of those times when the inconvenient paladin needs to be doing something elsewhere for a minute, that's okay. :D

Otherwise, my instinct is that Tethys would be in the same place as this lot in the first place mainly to support Luth (and Layne, if present) in confronting Baras about Luth's kids/Lt. Ujips' murder/Zakuul/dumping him as a Master/all of it. Breakup back-up.

Sylvain is there for Luth. His IC reasons would put him with her no matter her methodology.

Ideally it’d be nice if Baras was the aggressor to have reasons to include other folks. And even Sylvain’s own motivations… But that’s not my choice to make.

The messiest break up.

Honestly, with support, Luth would be just as happy for a confrontation that comes down to, "Hey, I'm leaving. I'm not your apprentice anymore. No fighting, no Sith methodology. I'm going. You can try to stop me if you feel that strongly about it."

which would definitely fall into the super messy breakup category. Still a confrontation but less starting with violence. Dunno if she would openly bring the kids into it as a factor or want others to.

It might still come down to a fight, but it'd be more we'll see and not starting it then, which should be better for everyone.

Kat along with Jo'ren and Durasay will go for whatever is dangerous fight I believe.

“I’m keeping the kids.”

Would probably be quite the card to play as well.

It would.
