Hoth: Blood and Ice

Well that had been a strange morning. Kat really didn't have words to describe it.

Would probably be best to distract herself with some work. With the influx of refugees on the base, they would need to optimize power a bit more, to make sure everyone would survive.

Durasay came with his tool kit. A smile as he approached Kat* then looked about engineering. "This place is coming a long way from just being a frozen cave."

"Quite so. I think it just shows how much we can accomplish if we want to work together," with a smile she looked around them as well.

"If we could truly manage full cooperation, united together, I think there is no limit to what we could do, hm?"

"As inspiring as that is, I hope our stay here isn't indefinite," Tethys says dryly, shaking her head as she checks over her own tools. "As long as unlimited potential does not mean unlimited time, I am all for it."

"Makes sense, given we have Infinite Destiny here." Durasay laughed at the reference, grinning widely. Checking his toolkit, everything perfectly fitting for his use.

"But in all seriousness, resources being this strained have gotten quite tiresome."

"At least we have made some progress on our original mission. At last." Tethys is inspecting a dust- and ice-caked control box with a slight frown of concentration. "Stopping the pirates' predation and slave-dealing is the reason we came here. Yesterday's operation may have been... improvised, but it's a step. That is worth some hardship." She flicks at an icicle with one gloved finger. "I'm sick of the cold too, though."

"Oh I really hope it won't be indefinitely," Kat said with a laugh, and was eager to get to work, starting with some of the power couplings that needed repairs and maintenance to provide better power to the installation.

"But... I was just thinking that we don't know what's happening out there. It crossed my mind that the Republic and the Empire might not be joining forces to face this danger. Someone might have to lead that effort to unite the galaxy to stand against the invasion."

As if inspired by her words, Durasay saw another mixed group of Republic crew and Imperial crew. "You all heard the lady. Start working together. Get this place up and running!" His ordered rang through with the double whammy of his cascader and the Force, urging the makeshift workcrew to double time.

"Might not be the galaxy at large, but it's a start."

While Durasay herds some of the base crew, Tethys finds herself... doing some more literal herding. A few of Pipka's goat herd seem to have found their way down here and are starting to get underfoot. At first, Tethys tried to gently shoo them back toward the elevator, but the persuasive techniques that work on Padawans (well, sort of) are apparently no-go on goats.

Eventually she puts on her sternest, grimmest Doom Jedi voice and just shoos them all into a side chamber, where, once they recover from the scare, they can munch on some of the copious ice lichen encrusting the conduits and thus hopefully save the clean-up team some work later.

Tethys wedges a desk across the chamber doorway to keep the goats out of the way in there for now, and looks around for the next task.

With all the traders who had arrived with the Jawas, much like the Ortolan before, Durasay went wheeling and dealing. Even with the language barriern his strength through the Force pushed his point across and parts wete acquired.

As Tethys and Durasay managed their new resources in the forms of goats, jawas, and manpower, Kat took a step back to actually run the numbers on how they were doing, and how to best redistribute the power for optimal performance.

She was doing a pretty good job with it, though it was time consuming.

Renewal is a success!

After a couple of hours, the engineering control room is looking much better. And, thankfully, a group of children from among the newly rescued refugee contingent have been found to take the goats back up where they belong. If forced to choose, Tethys would bet her money on the sapient kids to succeed rather than the caprine ones... but only because they have superiority of numbers, to be honest. If not for that, she's pretty sure it would be anyone's game.

"Phew." She blows out a weary breath. "This won't solve the crowding problem, but at least everyone will be warmer tomorrow."

((OOC: Should we make a note in the Destiny thread that we only used up 2 of those GM upgrades, not 4? Since we're done rolling, now.))
