Hoth: Blood and Ice

[Pipka]

The sound of bleating goats echoes through the halls of the base, leading from the hangar to the hydroponics pod. This is, of course, the sound of Pipka herding his tribe to their soon to be new home.

The goats seems to be in good cheer, having rested well in the hold of the Turtle and woken early, eager to start their day.

Pipka opens the doors to the hydroponics wing to find a disaster. Foileage had overgrown its areas and then frozen when the heat was eventually powered down. Equipment was in disarray, and desperately in need of maintenance. He didn't know where to start, but luckily the goats seemed to have an idea as they rush into the room and begin eating away at the detritus.

Shyyyo walked into the newly opened facility that morning with a mind to occupy himself with work...

The sight of goats in the hydroponic room was not one he was necessarily expecting...

He found a creature that was a bit larger than a goat and seemed to have brought them and came to stand beside it.

"This is how you intend to clean this facility?" He asked.

[Pipka]

Pipka looks up from his work, which at the moment involved rubbing a goat's belly and telling it what a great job it was doing.

"Oh hi, I'm Pipka. This place needs more than just cleaning, but yes, the goats wanted to help clean their new home."

The mask the man wore hid any visible clues to his appraisal of the situation.

After a few moments he pointed to himself, "Shyyyo... I suppose I shall stay to ensure things go well with these... methods."

[Pipka]

"That would be great. Many hands... and hooves, make light work."

He pulls a thermos out of his pack and a mug. "Would you like some hot chocolate?" Pipka offers while thinking, 'Will he take off his mask to drink, or does it have a sippy straw?.'

Shyyyo merely shook his head, "I have been awake for several hours. I am fine..."

[Lucinia Malveaux]

Lucinia hadn't really intended to help with the hydroponics bay. She'd already done her part with the maintenance bay, after all, and despite the bleating of her fellows that they needed food, that simply wasn't the sort of work she wanted to do.

But then, her attention was drawn by literal bleating...

Curiously, Lucinia stepped into the bay, frowning curiously. "Where did all these goats come from?" She asked, looking at the other two. Mostly at Shyyyo; it seemed entirely possible that Pipka was just an exceptionally weird looking goat.

Shyyyo gestured to Pipka, "They are this one's... I'm going to go with... 'friends'."

Shyyyo saw a pair of goats jump up high onto an expensive piece of equipment that looked ready to fracture and break with anymore weight...

He stepped forward and extended his aura out over the assemblage of goats to force them to stay down where they would not damage anything of particular import...

"More help!" Pipka squeaks out, then extends the thermos and mug towards Lucinia, "Would you like some hot chocolate, made with fresh goats' milk. And don't worry, there's plenty if you change your mind Mister Shyyyo.

I'm Pipka by the way, the goats are mine, I got them from the bazaar last night. Aren't they great?

Buster, Franky, stay..." Pipka starts, but the goats get down on their own.

[Lucinia Malveaux]

"Friends... right..." Lucinia said. Her frown deepened. Her eyes narrowed. A few moments passed.

Then she shrugged one slender shoulder. "Why not? As long as we have the goats, might as well enjoy the milk." Ufff, that sounded like a folksy saying. Lucinia shuddered, then inclined her head. "Lucinia Malveaux. It's a..." She paused, considering, "-pleasure to meet you. Of sorts." Well, it was interesting, anyway.

[Pipka]

"Right, there's so much to enjoy from goats. We've got goats' milk and hot chocolate of course. I've got some goat cheese in the works." He lowers his voice to a whisper for a moment, "And when necessary, there's goat stew, goat curry, goat kebabs. So many options. Oh, wait a moment."

Pipka walks over to a goat that is pulling at a mix of conduit and frozen vegetation tangled in the pumping system for the hydroponics pond. "Hey, Gertrude, get out of that!" After removing the goat, he clears the rest of the icy overgrowth from the pump and reconnects the conduit, powering up the pump.

"This place will be a goat paradise in no time."

Shyyyo internally bemoaned the inability to just Force Lighting some sense into this cute but... incredibly silly young creature. There were times not being in the Empire was taxing...

[Lucinia Malveaux]

Lucinia laughed, just a little. One hand came up to touch her lips, but luckily for everyone it wasn't a full ooohohoho. "Oh good, a goat paradise. Tell me, how will it be for people?"

She gave another of her little shrugs. "Well, at least we'll have all the goat products we could desire, from the sounds of it."

In fact, what good were goats? Lucinia frowned; she could only think of the basics.

As the goats trounced about doing goating things... Shyyyo bemoaned his current predicament.

One week ago I was commanding the greatest military force in the galaxy... Now I am begging goats not to eat us all to our grave...

As other attendants joined in the effort to clean the room of debris and reattach the various sources of power... The masked man directed the human and goat contributors with poise and well-practiced leadership...

"There's one over there... wait, there's another one getting away!" Gritting her teeth, Lucinia levitated the goat back to where the others were. "Ugh, there's too many to keep track of! I am not a goatherd!"

Seeing the goats become a bigger and bigger problem caused anger to swell up within Sylvain.

After they foiled the Malveaux's attempts to help Sylvain stood in the center of the room and extended his will out to the creatures.

"So... annoying little runts... I shall make you a deal... Leave now... and we will let you live long enough to eat the food that comes from these stores... Stay... and become the food yourself."

The goats all looked at the scary man and then at each other before moving out of the way of the specialists that sought to finish the work.

The goats frolick around and help the best that they could and Pipka couldn't be any more proud of them. As they cleared away the debris, Pipka follows behind, checking over the delicate equipment responsible for maintaining homeostasis in the hydroponics bay. Sure there were a few pieces that had been nibbled on, maybe some chunks chewed away... maybe a few components mysteriously missing.

He looks over to see Lucinia frantically trying to corral the goats into a cohesive pack, even flinging one through the air (so cool). Then to the side he sees the masked Shyyyo possibly, probably staring menacingly at the goats. They sure seemed intimidated.

"Hey guys, I think the goats are feeling a little pent up in here, I'm going to take them for a stroll around the base and be back in an hour," he surveys the room for a moment, "or maybe two. Thank you two so much for your hard work. I'll make sure to give you both some of the first batch of goat cheese, and all the goats' milk you can use." Pipka pulls out his thermos of steaming Hoth chocolate, draws their attention to it, and sets it on a console as he leads the goats out the door.

Lucinia smirked. "Quite. And did you hear? We get first batch?" Despite her mockery, she did pour herself a serving of the goat hot chocolate.

Frowning as she sipped, she looked at Shyyyo. "The Force is very strong with you." She said, eyes narrowing. It was sort of a question, sort of not.

"Is it? That's interesting..." He said with a monotone voice.

"I do what I can with the things the Goat Gods gave me."
