Hoth: Blood and Ice

Okay; A broken leg, a half-wrecked ship. ...maybe it wasn't a break, maybe it was a sprain? ...gods, she was a criminal, not a doctor! Still, she had three things to be thankful for. One, she wasn't bleeding anymore. Two, the snow sealing up the broken window was actually keeping cold air (and any wildlife) from coming in too readily. And three, she had her cold weather gear with her stuff on her ship here.

Getting it on was tricky though; She was hurt and chilly, and getting her hurt leg out of her dress and into a thermal suit was more than painful and awkward. But somehow she managed, sealing it up completely except for putting on the helmet. Sitting back on her bed she thought about opening the blast shutter on the tiny window in the room but decided against it, instead checking her transmitters and such to make sure her communications and computers were all right.

Sensors pick up movement near the ship.

Oh good, they were still working! ...though the fact there was movement was probably NOT a good thing. The chances it was someone from the Republic mission was almost none. And anything else... well, she was injured and only had a holdout pistol on her. Still; It was enough for her to open up the blast shield on her window, looking out through the double paned clear panel; The pane was above the snow the Niche was half buried in, though it didn't have the widest view, being only a foot across.

“Oh so this isn't a tomb, that’s really great. Are you alone in there?” a man called crouching down in the howling snow. “Is your comm working, I am on line besh-23. Unless you like screaming at each other!”

Arsele fell back off her bed onto the floor in surprise, not expecting someone face literally OUTSIDE THE WINDOW. Well... face was a bit of a stretch, covered up as it was by a full winter gear suit.

Putting a hand to her chest, she was glad he spoke loud enough to hear, fumbling and nodding, holding up a finger for him to wait. Picking up a nearby wall, she dragged herself towards the cabin where her comms were, turning it on with a few sparks... still, it worked, and she tuned it to the right line, "...hello?"

"Great, name's Bozr, we saw your ship we are on our way to the beacon, need a lift?" he offered. "Not a pirate, with the Republic... sort of."

"I... do. I'm injured, and I don't have any sort of speeder or anything, so I didn't fancy my chances trudging through the weather out there... I don't suppose you have someone that can help me out of the ship possibly?"

She looked down at the foot and noticed it was swollen in her environment suit, enough so that she could notice it. That got a sigh out of her as she leaned back in her bantha-hide seat, still on the ceiling as it was.

"Sure I can get you," he offered with a warm smile. "I won't let you freeze out here."

She looked up at the floor before pressing the comm button again, "I haven't been able to check, but is my loading ramp uncovered? The ship flipped on the way down when it hit an ice formation. So fortunately or not, it's face up. But I can't reach it to check from the ceiling. Not sure I have a way to open it even if it's uncovered anyways."

"We'll dig," he responded.

They finally got the woman free from her potential ice tomb and Bozr helped her to his ship.

Arsele gave her ship one last look as she neared Bozr's ship; The Niche was upside down, half stuck in the snow, a black wedge jammed into the snowbank like an Oreo in bowl of vanilla ice cream. She shuddered to think what would have happened if she'd landed somewhere with a harder surface... But then, maybe the damage was worse than she thought; She was no engineer.

Turning back to Bozr, she took her makeshift crutch in hand and half-hopped through the snow after Mister Thesk; She used a pick from her climbing gear, having tied it to that spanner lengthen it a bit. As she made her way on to the ships ramp, she hoped her upgraded computers and security could handle the cold and any wandering animals. She's put a lot of credits into that ship, and losing it at this point was just...

A mandalorian in armor alerted Bozrr as he aided Arsele that he had a priority call. He frowned and said, “Excuse me a moment, I need to take this.”

A woman appeared on holo and said, “Well Red Blade, you have clearance for Junktown, as long as you have my tribute. You know I heard about your work with Nemro, very vicious. Why slum it with the Republic?”

“You ask too many questions Riyani,” he said coldly. “You know my reputation so I hope you are not calling me to waste my time.”

She pouted and then said, “Don’t be like that, baby.” She then noticed Arsele and said, “Who’s the harlot?”

"Just have what I am looking for," he said before turning around as she started screaming obscenities' at Arsele. The holo disconnected. Bozr then added, "I apologize for that, business. Care for a drink?"

The interior was posh and clean, state of the art too.

Honestly? Arsele had been called worse in the past. And she wasn't eager to look a gifthorse in the mouth. Part of her wanted to stay with her ship, it was true, but that made no sense. Getting a lift to the base was the only sane way forward.

"Something strong, yes please. I don't care the taste at the moment. Just something to warm up."

He poured some a crimson colored wine and gave her a glass and said, "We should be at the beacon in a few minutes. Once the weather clears we can return to get your ship free, assuming you want some help."

"I mean... I'm not going to be able to do it myself. I'm no mechanic. And I doubt a ship crashes through ice and ends up upside down without taking some structural damage. I know for a fact though the Republic brought along more than their share of mechanical minded folks. ...hopefully they don't expect me to pay for the repairs though. I already have enough debts to the people here for my comfort."

Taking the drink, she took a seat and set her makeshift crutch down, nodding a little. "Of one sort or another, yes. not so much money these days, though only barely so. Took me so long to pay off that ship... almost a decade in Hutt space."

Bozr shook his head in disbelief and said, “I am not sure how you made it… yeah we have to save your ship after a sacrifice like that you earned it.”

“Not like there are many opportunities to make money on this rock outside of slumming for the pirates.”

"All the more reason."

She sipped her drink thoughtfully, peering at the man as they took off.

"...seems like you're kind of beholden to the Republic here too. Slumming it, as it were. Though I suppose you probably have more to gain from this than I do."

"I get by, you looking for extra creds?" he asked as they approached the beacon.

"I did just say I was broke, didn't I? But if you mean a job..."

Arsele scowled.

"I would say I already have one, but it seems my first jobs here are going to be getting my ship to the hangar at the base somehow, and getting both it and myself patched up."
