[Day 2 - MA] How Bazaar

The ortolan visitors have setup something of market outside the base, with stalls for trade of goods and supplies. Among them is a large stall manned by a devaronian with some rather odd and interesting times…

Aurilie was rather surprised to see the first visitors to their forced-by-circumstance everlasting winter seasonal home were not the pirates who sought to finish the job but rather some ortalans looking to do business! She was suspicious of them, at first, wondering if there were sent here to infiltrate them. How did they know there would be customers here? She supposed they weren't the one people on Hoth but finding business on the planet seemed like trying to find someone to buy snow on Mount Joral!

She strolled out with her rifle by her side, stopping to always look around at her surroundings ever so often. It seemed clear that the prince was on edge. Nevertheless, if they were truly here to sell things...why dismiss such a fortuitous opportunity for emergency supplies?

And what would a Prince be without the Princess? Cynella too wanted to discover more about the offerings here. If all went well, then perhaps she wouldn't need to fret over needing to retrieve food the good, old-fashioned way.

Her pistol rested easily against her thigh, tight in its holster. She maintained a more welcoming demeanor than her dear beloved. Nonetheless, she had been practicing her draw. It seemed like something Captain Alderaan would have been able to do, after all.

Galen was certainly curious. He ventured out to look around. If nothing else, he hoped to learn more about life on Hoth.

Soren was mostly out in hopes that the cold wind of Hoth would do something about the stench that clung to his skin.

Not that it was likely to help, but maybe it would be at least less prevalent with all the face covering and masks that were prevalent in these cold tempatures.

Well this was interesting. Maybe some of his new ortolan friends had come to sell their stewing. Also, if that Devaronian was who he thought it was they had last met on Ziost. Jo really got around. Jo'ren approached and had a good look around for goats...

Remmington walks outside when he notices the activity going on and crowd gathered. He is curious as to what these merchants may have to offer.

There was a few things Soren was after though, and while his funds were limited, he at least had some.

So, he kept his eyes open for one someone selling booze, and two someone selling some sort of food that wasn't rations and looked cookable.

On that note a portable camp stove might be nice as well.

Merchantile opportunities? Here?

Baesal was not the best at negotiation but this was a good opportunity to get more of what was needed...

...and if there was a real treasure in here...well.

The ortolan merchants provided a lot of second hand goods, most in relatively good condition. Plus a lot of local fare they created and food. They were eager to show this Sith Empire or whoever they were what they have.

There was also a large junk stall being pulled by large native beasts of burden, it hovered just a meter above the ground and was manned by droids and a very handsome devaronian, well not handsome but he was a devaronian.

The sign read in Basic, “Jo’s Goats Emporium, all Goats, all the time.”

OOC: Ortolan merchants have rarity six available but no restricted gear with a+15% mark up on price. They also can Hoth Proof your vehicle or ship for 5 Obligation to the Ortolans, this will require a time slot and your ship or vehicle being available.

The bazaar is available till Late Evening, then they head out. Jo’s Goats is not yet open, due to technical difficulties. But soon!

OOC: Hoth-Proofing makes the ship basically immune to Hoth Environment and icing but it decreases Handling by 1, so if it was at 2 it does down to 1.

Aurilie didn't seem too surprised regarding the prices that they were charging on goods here, considering that they had somewhat of a captive customer pace. They couldn't very well get on the infonet and get their purchase flown in by a droid just anywhere in three days, one day with prime membership. Her immediate scrutiny went on the second-hand goods. Sure, some of these might have been sold and traded to them when credits were low. A part of her wondered how many of these were pried off the cold dead hands of those who were less fortunate than them...

She quickly shook her head and decided to focus her thoughts elsewhere...What? All Goats, all the time? Oh, no...

"...Uhm, ahh, Rhia!" She called out to her wife in a hurry as she scrambled to find something else of interest. "How peculiar is this cooking set? It almost seems obvious this was done with repurposed hull metal from a ship! You don't suppose this might be from a Kuati ship, do you?"

''Oh, hello! I would like to Hoth proof a vehicle if still possible?'' she ventured to ask one with the tools of a mechanic

(+5 obligation for hoth proofing the truck)

Remmington notes the number of people lining up for the Hoth proofing. He will have to continue to consider it at the moment. He spots a strange sign. "What is this about goats?" He looks around seeing if anyone has any clue.

Something was different about Layne. An intensity to her she had not had in many years. People probably didn't know why yet, and she wasn't inclined to tell them. That was not why she was here, in any case. It was just pure pragmatism now that the tears had gone and the anger subsided. She couldn't go back in to talk to anyone yet.

Pragmatism meant she needed to get her ship back. But to get there safely, she'd have to make sure she could find her way back there safely without risking getting stranded. It was fortuitous then that a market of sorts had been established. By locals who apparently knew enough engineering and mechanics to fix vehicles up to handle the extreme temperatures.

Bringing out her speederbike, she walked up to the Ortolans who seemed to be doing that kind of work.

Where Baesal was apparently thinking the same. Someone she *really* didn't want to deal with right now for reasons that would become obvious soon enough.

"Make this one ice proof too," she said, rolling it up and focusing her gaze solely on the Ortolan. "I'll be back for it later."

(+5 Obligation)

''Planning on more expeditions?'' she mused as she turned to Galen

But while she did so the hair at the back of her head stood up. She glanced around but could not see the source of the feeling

Something is not right

"It seems like a good idea." he shrugged. "If want to do more than just survive, we're going to have to travel a bit."

''Sound idea'' she said returning to attention ''Any place you want to see or hope to discover? A beast to hunt perhaps?''

"I was thinking of hunting tonight." he nodded. "To give our new cook something more to work with."

Good. It seemed like Baesal didn't notice her. Or was distracted, anyway. That was a conversation she definitely wasn't ready to have yet. Wasn't sure if she'd ever be ready, for that matter.

Only problem was, now she didn't have anything to do anymore. Which meant her thoughts were free to linger again. Enough so that she even caught herself idly seeing if the Ortolans had any prosthetics available. But... she didn't know a damned thing about such things, what to look for, what to avoid. Did it even make sense to think about this right now, with what she was attempting to do?

"I wouldn't go so far to claim thus," Rhia said. "If I had a ship to compare the spacing of, then perhaps I could affirm it. For now, it is simply an interesting choice for cooking." From what she remembered, supplies within the base's cooking area were in good order.

Her eyes went to the motley crew about them. They certainly were an odd bunch, though that might have made no difference at all to the ortolans. In a way, she envied that ignorance to the galaxy at large. Things were always simpler when only on a planetary scale.

She really did miss Alderaan.

"Hm," Aurilie murmured to herself as she inspected the jury-rigged cooking ware. It was a quaint novelty, at least, considering they've been able to warp and contort the metal enough that it forms into the shape of a pot. There was also an element of impracticality when they could have melted the whole thing and just use the refined metal instead. She slowly turned the pot and noticed the stencilled words 'Air Lock Controls' on it. That was enough for her to put it down and promptly forget about it.

"I don't think I have a need for anything here...luckily, I managed to get most of my things stowed away on the Rimma when it all happened," she sighed and she looked at all of the wares for sale. It seemed the best seller was ship modifications anyway. "There's another settlement not too far from here, apparently."
